I have come to LOVE fantasy baseball. It gives every baseball nerd like myself the chance to be a General Manager. The best part is, it's not like some computer games where people get absorbed into this fake reality. It's based on real baseball. I would watch baseball all the time anyway. Now I have even more reasons to watch baseball. Suddenly I care if the cellar dwelling Orioles are on a hot streak in August because Matt Wieters is the catcher on my fantasy team. Fantasy baseball is just a beautiful thing. Plus my wife plays in the same league too. It gives us something to bond over that is super interesting to me.
I have owned Chipper Jones in every single fantasy baseball league I have ever played in. He is my childhood baseball idol and I will never get rid of him. No matter how old and terrible he gets. That's the loyalty of 12 year old Ryan coming out in me.
